In my years of watching the Orioles, I’ve not seen a day like this in a while. It’s been ugly. Sad. Pathetic. Disgusting. It was a long Saturday of pretty bad baseball.
As a fan, you have to wonder what has happened with the young pitching? The two starters who are the future of the team and were summoned from the minors – Chris Tillman and Zach Britton – were awful.
We all know about Tillman’s struggles; however, I’m shocked at how bad Britton has been. Well, based on his first two months of the season, one would have thought Britton was going to be a future ace – alas, that thought was premature.
Britton was charged with nine runs – six earned – in only 1/3 of an inning. He gave up seven hits!
Well, Jason Berken – who came into the game in relief of Britton – was not any better. He gave up another three runs and simply made a horrible game into an unwatchable one for fans. That probably had to have been one of the worst innings of baseball I've ever witnessed.
