Joe Gibbs Steps Down As Coach & Team President of the Redskins..
For many Redskins fans, including myself, today was a melancholy day as Joe Gibbs stepped down as coach and team president of the Washington Redskins. He knew he needed to walk away from the team to be closer to his wife, children and grandchildren, as well he knew he could not devote his full energy to coaching anymore.
After the year he had, no matter if you thought he should have stayed or the game passed him by, you cannot argue he handled the organization and the tragedy involving Sean Taylor with nothing short of impeccable dignity.
In the end, there was no real return to glory; however, the way he represented the sport and a community during his second tour of duty with the Redskins only reinforced why he's one of the greatest coaches of all time.
