Quick Hits - Fast O's News & the Rundown...

Brian Roberts will be an Oriole until 2009 as reported yesterday, since he was able to get a 2 year extension from the team worth $14.3 million. He’s a good guy for the community, a great ball player and from looks of it, a great role model for the youth.

I usually don’t consider most athletes role models, but Brian Roberts is an exception. Jorge Arangure Jr. has more news on the deal. The Orioles.com Charlie Nobles has his take on the deal too.

Well, what we have known about Kris Benson has finally come true (at least in my eyes) – he’s done for the 2007 season.

The O’s lost 4-1 to the Marlins (ok, do we like play them every other day?), but Aubrey Huff homered; however, Jaret Wright got hit hard.

Jay Gibbons may have to share time at the DH position, since the first base experiment was scrapped and the outfield positions seem to be filled. In the article by Jorge Arangure, Gibby doesn’t seem too ambivalent with the situation…

Scott Williamson was ill yesterday, as he was still recovering from bronchitis and it showed in his performance.

Kevin Millar is hurting.

The Baltimore Sun has a Q&A with catcher Adam Donachie.

News on an Old Friend: Fernando Tatis has been released from the Dodgers
