The Brim Reaper Traded
MLB.com is reporting that the "Brim Reaper", George Sherrill has been traded. I have not seen anything from the Baltimore media as of yet, but here's the news:
ST. LOUIS -- The Dodgers shored up their bullpen Thursday by acquiring Orioles closer George Sherrill in exchange for two prospects, third baseman Josh Bell and pitcher Steve Johnson, according to baseball sources.
Sherrill can serve as a set-up man, or share the closer role with Jonathan Broxton.
The Dodgers still are hoping to acquire a starting pitcher and are rumored to still be pursuing Toronto's Roy Halladay.
Sherrill is a tad older than 30, but he's damned good reliever and let's hope we got something of value for him. I presume that Steve Johnson is the son for former Oriole and MASN personality, Dave Johnson. That being said, I don't know what I think of the trade right now, but Sherrill will have incredible value to the back end of the Los Angeles bullpen.
