Will Vlad Be An Oriole or Not?

Well, are the O’s after Vladmir Guerrero or not?

As fans, we’ve been hearing different things as Jim Bowden from of the MLB Network/Fox Sports reported he was close to a deal, as well from ESPN Deportes.

On the other hand, most of the local press including the Sun’s Dan Connolly, Jeff Zrebeic and MASN’s Roch Kubatko say that there’s no deal on the horizon – at least, not yet – with the slugger.

For the most part, Andy MacPhail never really reveals his cards, so who really knows what is true or not.

Of course, with the Tampa Bay Rays adding veterans Johnny Damon and the mercurial Manny Ramirez, plus the Angels trading for Vernon Wells, the speculation over Guerrero’s potential landing spot has grown.

As a fan, I’d really like Guerrero on the Orioles. I do think he could still hit a ton and he’d be a fearsome force in Baltimore’s lineup and even add more pop, plus protection to a lineup already improved from the 2010 season.

Although Guerrero faded in the second half of last season, if he had the same numbers with the Orioles than he did in Texas, the slugger is easily the best bat in the lineup.
