It was one hell of a night at Camden Yards in more ways than one.
The Orioles earned a series sweep over the Seattle Mariners, 2-1, as J.J. Hardy’s bases-loaded single plated in two runs and earned them a comeback victory. It had to be one of the best games I've seen played at Camden Yards, and I've been going there since the park opened in 1992.
In a briskly played, twelve-inning thriller, the Orioles got a lot of help in the final frame from Seattle reliever Brandon League, who hit two batters and set up the drama at the very end. Every pitch and play mattered on Thursday.
Oriole starting pitcher Zach Britton gave fans a reason to believe the future is bright as he went nine innings and only gave up three hits. Britton didn’t win, but he showed why he forced the team to bring him into the majors once Brian Matusz was lost to injury. Folks, we have potential ace in the making if all goes well.
