About Yesterday; Jones Batting Cleanup?

On Friday, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox, 6-5, in Sarasota thanks to two-run homers by Adam Jones and Nick Markakis. The offense pounded out 13 hits, and the bats started to pick up after being quiet for most of the winter. They did most of their scoring in the early pertion of the game, hammering Boston starter Clay Buchholz for five runs in five innings of work.

Nick Johnson also contributed with two hits and has raised his batting average to .324. It will be fascinating to see if there’s any need or room for him on the 25-man roster. Robert Andino also had two hits and drove in two runs.

Baltimore starter Jason Hammel got roughed up a bit, as he went only two innings and gave up three runs. Brad Bergesen got the win on the afternoon as he went three scoreless innings on the mound.

With a little less than two weeks before the start of the season, the question is: who will be the leadoff hitter?
