What To Do With Trachsel? O's Lose Another One Run Game, 6-5
Right now, Steve Trachsel is 1-4 with a 7.62 ERA, and his performance on Sunday did not help things. Charged with six earned runs, in only three innings of work, could his time in Baltimore be coming to a close?
Two horrible starts should not damper his full body of work; however, is it time, considering the solid pitching of the Orioles so far that we give his slot to someone else? He served up three home runs — including a three run jack to Torii Hunter in the first — and seemingly was vulnerable on the mound, to put it simply.
Baltimore lost to the Los Angeles Angels, 6-5, in a game which the Orioles possibly blew because of poor decisions on the base paths, and giving the Angels extra outs (highlighted by Roberts being thrown out twice on the bases — he being gunned down in the ninth inning was a killer.)
They had 15 hits, but only crossed the plate five times, which served as another problem on the afternoon. The bats woke up as Melvin Mora had three hits, including a solo home run, while Nick Markakis homered as well, and Kevin Millar drove in two runs.
In light of the loss, the Oriole bullpen was great, only allowing one hit in five innings of work. We had to Oakland on Monday and play a strong, upstart, A’s team that matches pretty well at the moment against Baltimore.
Now, we’ll head back to my original question — what’s to be done with Steve Trachsel?

I think it is time to release him and give some of the young arms his innings.
