The Nationals Offer Teixeira A Crazy Deal...
Take this for what it's worth -- however, if this is true, this could be the beginning of one craziest player courtships I have ever seen.
Since I have seen this on the Nationals official website, we have to take as gospel.
It looks like someone has drawn first blood on Teixeira -- The Washington Nationals -- a team that is looking for credibility in the sport.
LAS VEGAS -- The Nationals are showing how serious they are when it comes to bringing Mark Teixeira to Washington, D.C.I doubt that Teixeira will sign tomorrow; alas, I think the first substantive offer that the public has heard for the slugger from any team will now only DRIVE UP THE PRICE for anyone who wishes to get him.
According to a Major League source, the club has offered the switch-hitting first baseman an eight-year, $180 million contract that would pay Teixeira an average of $22.5 million per season.
But the Nationals have competition when it comes to acquiring Teixeira; the Angels, Orioles, Red Sox and Yankees are also in the mix.
If the Nationals for some reason acquire Teixeira, I shudder to think what will happen in Baltimore and amongst Oriole fans nation-wide.

My guess is Teixeira will do whatever Scott Boras tells him to do.
Agreed. I am amazed -- utterly amazed -- how much influence and power Boras has amongst his clients.
It's just flat out interesting the amount and diversity of clients he's got under his stable.
