2007 Regular Season Simulation...
Hey everyone, hope everyone is having a happy and great Sunday.
I decided to do a simulation of the 2007 season using a modified version of MVP Baseball 2005 for PC, with the updated rosters and schedules.
Anyhow, here’s what comes from the simulation (Keep in mind, all the pictures came from a video game, and obviously has no bearing on reality, nor is it scientific). A lot of the results came out what I thought they would; however, some were off - way off. I'll have the playoffs done later on today or in morning. Right now, enjoy, speculate and feel free to leave me comments.
American League East: I agree with the results, but I figured that the Red Sox would finish much better. The Orioles do finish above .500, though.
American League Central: I don't see the Twins winning the division, and the White Sox should be at least 20 games better than they are record wise, but it does look like a very close race.
American League West: The Angels should be in second, and will have a record above .500.
National League East: The Phillies should be in first or second, and there's no way they are worse than the Nationals.
National League Central: I don't see the Brewers winning 90 games or the division, but it looks real competitive and close. The Cardinals sneak into the playoffs by winning the wild card.
National League West: The Diamondbacks will win more than 68 games, but this division looks like how I'd rank all the teams.

That was a cool idea, unscientific or not...
great idea anthony. what gets me is that the simulation has the red sox scoring almost a 1000 runs but yet they only win 90 games.
obviously i dont agree with the AL East. I think the Red SOx will win it with the Yanks getting the wildcard. IN the central, i think the tigers will repeat over the twins in a close race. the west will be won by the a's so i agree there. i also agree with the mets.
i think the cardinals will win the central. and the padres will win the west, with the dodgers getting the wildcard.
I know your the first person I have seen that has done a simulation.
Any idea what the sim said about J.D Drew's numbers?
Thanks for the comment -- the AL East between the Sox and Yanks for me is a toss-up...
I don't think the Sox will only have 90 wins, but a few more and I think D-Mat will do better than 10-10.
I'll see if can get the stats of the biggest stars in the game and see what comes out in an upcoming post...
Very cool breakdown. The National League east is going to be a dogfight this season with the Phillies and Mets fighting for first. I don't think the Marlins improved enough for them to contend for the division but a wild card birth might be in the cards. I'm looking forward to the rivaly brewing between the Phils and Mets this year from the offseason comments made by Brett Meyers and Jimmy Rollins.
Nice job Anthony. Loving the blog!
no offense, but this is pretty pathetic. you can't use a 2005 game as a simulation for a 2007 season, even with updated rosters. the players that had down years in 2004 may have had outstanding years last year causing their stats to go up. the thing with video games is they automatically decide generally how well a player is going to perform one year based on his previous year.
Ok, the rosters are updated for '07, and the stats & rankings are used from '06 -- the game is not made anymore, but there's a group of video game mods, designers and stat freaks that keep the game updated and true to form...
