Quick Hits: O's Stuff, Selig and A-Rod
As we all know, Spring Training is upon us and the Baltimore Sun's Roch Kubatko in his latest blog entry talks about Vice President of Baseball Operations, Mike Flanagan and what the organization is up to.

"Barry Bonds might get a telephone call from baseball commissioner Bud Selig instead of a handshake if the San Francisco Giants slugger breaks Hank Aaron's home run record.
Selig wouldn't say yesterday whether he would attend any Giants games if and when Bonds closes in on the mark.
Selig insisted Major League Baseball would celebrate Bonds' potential feat exactly as it does any other major milestone, such as a pitcher's 300th win. Last year, Selig telephoned San Diego closer Trevor Hoffman when he became the career saves leader."

I have a good feeling Alex Rodriguez will give us more content than the media, bloggers and the rest of the baseball world will know what to do with. I feel empathy for him, as he surely cannot be happy in New York at the moment. Right now, he just needs to focus on the job ahead of him and help the Yankees win.It's sad that he's got to go through all this because of the 'contract' and his expectations because he's now a Yankee. My buddy, Jen in New Jersey, thinks the media is after him and in turn gets the fans to hate him.
I'm not sure about that, but he's in his own different sphere when it comes to media coverage, no doubt.

This is getting ridiculous. If you don't want him to break it than don't let him break it. Don't let him play.
They shouldn't let Barry play. He's a world class jerk. The LAST thing that baseball needs right now with all it's other PR problems is to have Bonds be the face of the league for 6 months, especially with all teh controversy that will accompany him.
Bonds breaking the record is bad news for baseball.
Thanks for the comments, it's funny that the system and heirarchy that allowed the drug use to happen unfettered will is now distancing themselves from the most hallowed drecord in sports.

I hate Barry as much anyone, even moreso, but MLB has a TON of cupability for allowing this to happen.
Barry may break the record, but Hank is still the MAN in the court of public opinion...
Can't wait to watch A-Rod next year. He's one of the more entertaining stories in sports.
