Quick Hits - The Game Last Night, Fast O's News & the Rundown...

Last night, the Baltimore Orioles played some of the worst baseball I have seen in a while, as they lost to the Minnesota Twins to 7-2 in which Jaret Wright only lasted a little more than 2 innings & gave up six runs.

In addition, the Orioles looked woeful on defense as Jay Gibbons, Miguel Tejada and Melvin Mora made huge errors on which the Twins capitalized on.

Wright was just hit way too hard, had no location or command on his pitches and just walked too many guys which hurt him.

The Orioles offense was once again lacking, and made Ramon Ortiz, a pitcher who lost 16 games and an ERA well over 5 in 2006 look like a Cy Young candidate last night.

In the end, it is just one start and we have 159 games to go, but the Orioles have not looked at all, with the exception of Daniel Cabrera, along with the bats of Aubrey Huff and Miguel Tejada.

We should not panic yet, but if we don’t a win a game before the Detroit series, the Orioles might have dug a hole that they may not be able to dig themselves out of.

There’s more from last night’s game from Washington Post reporter, Jorge Arangure Jr.

In more news to even further dampen the mood of the opening week for the Orioles, Sun writer Jeff Zrebiec reports that catcher Ramon Hernandez might go on the 15 day DL. It’s safe to assume that Ramon’s injury is worse off than initially thought.

There’s more on the Ramon Hernandez situation from Spencer Fordin of the Orioles.com & the Washington Post.

Dan Connolly of the Sun believes it is too early to panic about the 2007 season, but the team has some problems and the result of the past few games has brought it out in the open.

The Baltimore Sun today has a question with Melvin Mora, this time it’s about his favorite city to play in – he says it’s New York City.

MASN News: Mediacom Communications Corp. has agreed to carry the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, which will allow Eastern Shore residents in Maryland and Delaware to see Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals games, MASN announced Wednesday.
