Quick Hits - Short Game Summary, Fast O's News & the Rundown...

Last night, the Baltimore Orioles lost to the Minnesota Twins by a score of 3-2. Tall, imposing Daniel Cabrera was solid, but not dominant as he pitched seven innings, struck out nine, walked three and gave up six hits.

Walks, a fielding miscue by Daniel Cabrera, and a freak bloop single thereafter by infielder Jason Bartlett in the 7th inning allowed the Twins to squeak a win by the Orioles. However, the offense for the Orioles was listless, as the team only managed 5 hits off Boof Bonser.

Mora did the damage to the Twins with a 2 run homer, but nothing much else went right for the Orioles offensively.

The Orioles.com own Spencer Fordin has a recap of the game.

Matt Palmer had a piece in the Examiner yesterday on last night’s starting pitcher, Daniel Cabrera.

The Washington Post’s Jorge Arangure has a recap of the game and notes Paul Bako was given the night off because of the hit Justin Morneau gave him the night before at home plate.

The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebeic notes that lack of offense killed the Orioles. In light of the loss, Miguel Tejada looked great in the field and seems to be more mobile than ever, but the Twins stole five bases off backup catcher, Albeto Castillo.

Dan Connolly has concerns about the bench, and so do I. We need a bigger bat on the bench, and Freddie Bynum should not be pinch hitting in key situations.

John Parrish was solid in his first outing this season, and he hopes the success translates into the season.

The Baltimore Sun has a question for Brian Roberts, in which they ask him which stadium is the hardest to play in…

Jaret Wright starts tonight for the Orioles in Minnesota, and hopes are high that he will not be the victim of a pitch count in the first few innings. The team needs him to at least go deep into games, as his spring training numbers were not impressive at all.
