Feel the Thrill of Baseball...
In less than 12 hours or so, I’ll be in Washington D.C. to see the Florida Marlins take on the Nationals for Opening Day.
Folks, baseball is back and the games count now. To be honest, I have never watched more spring training games than I ever have this season, and I got sick of it after week three.
That being said, whomever you root for, whether it be the Evil Empire, Cubbies, Redbirds, Metsies, Sawx, da Birds, the Nats and everyone else, may I wish you the best this season.
The 2007 season got started yesterday night as the New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1.
The Orioles will have an April that test them and prove what they are made of. We open up the 2007 season against the Twinkies (aka Minnesota Twins), and then we go to the Bronx Zoo (Yankee Stadium) and face the Evil Empire (the New York Yankees).
Thereafter, we come home to Baltimore for our Opening Day and take on the Tigers, who should be a tough customer.
After we face the Tigers, we take on the so-called cupcakes of the American League, the Royals and Devil Rays.
Well, once we take on the cupcakes, we go through another hellish test facing the Blue Jays, A’s, Red Sox, Indians and then the Tigers to round out April.
At this point, if we finish .500 or better this month, consider the team in excellent shape.
Matchups for Monday’s Game in Minnesota: Erik Bedard vs. Johan Santana
It should be great matchup for sure!
I’ll have my thoughts of Fan Fest in the morning. I’m too tired right now and I am baseballed out…
