Quick Hits - The Game Yesterday, Fast O's News & the Rundown...

The amazing bullpen for the Orioles came through again in dominant fashion as the team won yesterday against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays by a score of to 6-4.

In a game that was close, the bullpen once again did a masterful job of holding onto the lead and the Tampa Bay batters out.

In a battle of young studs, Erik Bedard won his third straight game and bested out Scott Kazmir. Even though Bedard struggled somewhat, as he only pitched a little more than five innings yesterday in which he gave up 4 runs.

However, Bedard did strike out 8 batters, although he did struggle with his command and allowing runners on base.

Bedard’s adversary, Scott Kazmir, struggled mightily in his start as he threw well over 100 pitches in about 4 innings of work. Replacing Kazmir was Gary Glover who took the loss as he gave up 3 runs, including a homer to Nick Markakis.

Everyone seemed to contribute to the victory, as Freddie Bynum, Chris Gomez, Alberto Castillo, & Kevin Millar drove in a run each.

Chad Bradford, John Parrish, Danys Baez helped hold the game for Erik Bedard, and Chris Ray came in for his fifth save.

Baltimore Sun writer Jeff Zrebiec has a recap of the game, as does the Baltimore Examiner, the Frederick News Post and the Washington Post.

As touched upon during the radio show, Ramon Hernandez will probably be out until early next week. He says that he is still feeling very sore, and wanted to come back Friday, but he still does not feel right.

The Washington Post’s Jorge Arangure has more on the situation with Ramon.

The Orioles definitely do miss his bat, but in my honest opinion, we’re in April and so far his replacements have done an adequate job. Right now, there’s no need to rush him back.

Jeff Zrebeic has more on the team including notes on Ramon Hernandez, Jaret Wright, Adam Loewen & John Parrish.

Adam Stern is back in the minors after Corey Patterson returned to the Orioles roster.

Dawn Klemish of the orioles.com has a great piece on Jon Knott, who in his short time up in the leagues has contributed to the Orioles. Personally, I think the O’s need to make room for him on the bench as he’s a big bat who can help in key situations. He’s got a great track record in the minors, so perhaps he needs to be given a shot with the Orioles.

is it me or is ramon's 07 injury reminiscent of bedard 05: "I feel fine I just can't play"
