A History of Badness; Orioles Lose 17-2 to the Rays

What else is there to say? The Orioles lost 17-2. Plain and simple, Liz was ineffective and the trusty bullpen sucked it up once again. I would say DFA everyone who pitched last night or send them back to the minors, but there are no reinforcements to help out, so it may be another 3-4 weeks of sucking it up.

The Baltimore Examiner has a recap of the game last night, as does the Baltimore Sun, Orioles Hangout, Washington Post, and Oriole Magic

Roch Kubatko has his thoughts of last night's game, and Heathir Irvin has a preview of the Red Sox-Orioles series this weekend.

Peter Schmuck has his thoughts on Clay Buchholz, the losing and Dave Trembley.

Jon Leciester is starting on Saturday, and it has been more than two years after he last started a game...

Paul Shuey has now been given his outright release; alas, he a great comeback story, but if you cannot get anyone out, you're pretty much useless.

The Baltimore Examiner has a great write-up on Brian's Baseball Bash which was held a few Sundays ago...

Once again, Peter Angelos is taking a beating in the media, this time for the janitorial contract dispute with the Maryland Stadium Authority, although he has no say in how workers are paid. However, Orioles owner Peter Angelos, according to Bill Ordine, had promised to make up the difference in pay out between the union workers and the Stadium Authority of his own pocket. From the looks of it, Angelos never opened up his checkbook; hence, the bad press.

The Orioles MLB site has a great write-up on Jamie Walker and his charity work that earned him the Roberto Clemente Award given to a player on every team.
