O's Beat Rays, 8-4; The Rundown

Well, last night, something finally went the Orioles way and they beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in resounding fashion, by a score of 8-4.

The suddenly hot (why could he have not done this in May) Aubrey Huff hit a two-run homer, a 4-hit night by Nick Markakis, and a four run eighth inning capped off a huge win for the Birds.

Once again, the trusty bullpen nearly made things interesting in the seventh inning, as they allowed the Rays to tie up the score.

However, the relief corps held the game in check the rest of the way and in the end, Tampa’s bullpen was far worse than the Orioles on Wednesday night.

The Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Examiner, Washington Post, & Orioles Hangout have a recap of the game.

Rick Maese of the Baltimore Sun believes we are truly finding out what Dave Trembley is made of during this tough stretch and how this is a test for him.

Meanwhile, Mike Boehm wonders if anyone still cares or even watches the Orioles.

Erik Bedard has a muscle strain; however, he may pitch sometime again in 2007. As well, the Orioles have called up 4 more players including Brandon Fahey, Gustavo Molina, Luiz Hernandez and Fernando Cabrera.

Columnist Jay Hancock does not have very nice things to say about the Orioles and the way they do business and it’s not good.

Rock Kubatko has thoughts of last night’s game, as does Bill Ordine.
