Roberts and Penn for Braves' LaRoche and Giles

Brian Roberts will not be traded, mark my words. There would be riot and lots of people would highly upset. The backlash for the Orioles would cripple the team in the eyes of the public locally, and surely would bury Angelos poor standing as is.

He's a fan favorite, and I know Angelos loves him. However, it was a shock to see this in the Sun today. In my eyes, it's sad to see how desperate the Orioles have become though...

Rumors and talk are just part of baseball....

Considering him relative to the production you expect from 1B, Laroche has only had a couple good months in his career. If he was the final piece to put a good team over the top then maybe you trade value for him. But the Orioles aren't that close to contending.

Meanwhile, not sure what the Giles/Roberts swap accomplishes for the O's. Giles has never been especially toolsy. He's aging and his tools are slipping even further. This can be a problem for a mighty mite who's 5'7" and plays the big man's take-n-rake game...
