Kids Asked to Nominate Dad for “Send Dad to Golf School” Contest; Winners Receive Gift Certificate to ESPN Golf Schools
GLENDALE, Calif. (May 31, 2007) – ESPN Zone is celebrating Father’s Day with a nationwide contest titled, “Send Dad to Golf School.” The contest asks children of all ages from across the country to submit letters to their local ESPN Zone explaining why their dad is #1. Four fathers per ESPN Zone location will be selected to compete in a virtual putt-putt golf contest at their local ESPN Zone. The winner at each location will receive a gift certificate to ESPN Golf Schools presented by American Express, a prize valued at approximately $395. Each of the eight ESPN Zones will host separate contests, resulting in eight winners.
“We wanted to create a unique event that encourages kids of all ages to put their writing skills to work, show their appreciation for dad and also give fathers a gift they’ll love,” said Christine Baum, ESPN Zone’s manager, marketing and communications. “We feel we accomplished this with ‘Send Dad to Golf School.’ We’re looking forward to reading some of the children’s letters. It’s going to be difficult to narrow it down to only four contestants per site, but we’re ready to go.”
Entry forms can be submitted between May 30 and June 7. Entry forms are available at www.ESPNZone.com as well as at ESPN Zone retail stores. Participants can submit their entry forms via U.S. mail or by turning them into the cashier at ESPN Zone’s retail store (venue addresses are available on ESPN Zone’s Web site). Entrants will be judged on originality and creativity.
On Saturday, June 16, selected finalists will compete at virtual putt-putt golf in ESPN Zone’s interactive gaming arena. The winner at each location will receive a gift certificate to ESPN Golf Schools presented by American Express where they’ll receive professional training and tips from the game’s top coaches.
