Quick Hits: The Roundup...

With a day off last night, the Orioles got some rest.

So did I. After my car got broken into on Saturday and trying to figure how I can get things replaced, this week has not been fun; furthermore, the day off gave me a chance to get myself in order.

Starting today, the Washington Nationals come into the Yard to continue the so-called "Battle for the Beltway", the hyped up event that no one really cares or makes a big deal about. The media might be trying to make a big deal about it, but both teams are under .500 and the players really don't care, and the fans are lukewarm towards it.

The only thing driving this series is the hatred of Peter Angelos in both cities.

Considering the awful traffic on I-95 and the Parkway, the attendance my be sketchy.

Anyhow, the Orioles can get back on track if they can beat one of the so-called worst teams in the league, the Nationals.

Then again, the Nationals (like I have said before, as I cover them) will be no push-over, and they took 2 of 3 from the always tough Minnesota Twins.

Fellow blogger Heather Irvin has a preview of the series this week on Oriole Magic!

The most consistent pitcher on the O's staff from day one has been Steve Trachsel. Considering his career, his year with the Mets in '06, and he not being signed until the start of Spring Training, the work he has done so far has been remarkable. Roch Kubtako of the Sun has an interesting article on Steve Trachsel, the job he has done this year and the possibility of he remaining an Oriole.

Well, the scoreboard at the Yard is breaking down, and seemingly at the end of it's life. Why it has not been replaced considering the options out there, I have no clue; however, the Stadium Authority and the Orioles are arguing over who should play for it. If the board is broken down during tonight's game, it will be an embarrassment.

The Baltimore Examiner has a piece on the O's 2007 Draft and their picks, and also on Eric Perlozzo, the son of the manager, Sam.

Roch Kubatko muses on the O's...

Cal's streak started 25 years ago today; funny, considering it's been several years since he still played, he's still very much the face the organization in the eyes of many people...

Point of information: I have found MASN at times to be way too Baltimore-centric, and if you think that's the case, read Marc Fisher's Blog on Washingtonpost.com
