Joe Girardi Turns Down O's Offer...

According to ESPN, Joe Girardi today turned down the Orioles' offer to become their new manager...

After thinking he might join early this week, I had a feeling he'd turn it down because of the state of the team and as well the chance of other, more high profile jobs opening up. As well, I don't know if he was willing to uproot his family from the Midwest to come work in Baltimore...

I guess it leaves the possibility of Davey Johnson coming back.

Also on the docket may be Dusty Baker and Rick Dempsey.

At this point, considering how things have come about with the Orioles, anything can happen...

If we can't get Davey Johnson, I say we should stick with Trembley for the rest of this year and revisit the topic in the offseason.

You really would have enjoyed Girardi. I know the Marlins FO were hoping he went to Baltimore to get him off the books.

It really didn't seem like a good situation for Girardi.

Hopefully you guys get your man soon!

Greta - I would have agreed with you about Trembley until today.

Anyone in authority who lets Miguel Tejada play for a token at bat, I question his fitness to be a MLB manager. We'll see, but Trembley lost a lot of points with me today.

I don't think Davey Johnson will come back based on the acrimonious history with Angelos. He'd be the fan favorite; however, would he want to be with a team that may be in the rebuilding phase?

J.D. - Girardi could have made an impact in Baltimore, but the Orioles have a lot of problems and if I were him, I'd pass on the job too. Considering the buzz he has now, he can afford to wait for a better situation to pop-up.
