Burres Blows It; O's Lose 9-2

Well, the Baltimore Orioles lost to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays by a score of 9-2.

Brian Burres got hit hard and was torched seven runs (six earned) in a little more than three innings of work.

The Tampa Bay offense, led by Carlos Pena exploded and ended an 8 game losing streak.

In light of the loss, Corey Patterson drove in a run along with Jay Payton.

The Birds finish up in Tampa Bay today, and then come back to Baltimore with series against Seattle and Boston.

Sadly, in the end, this might have been Brian Burres’ last start; therefore, expect to see him back in the bullpen, most likely in a long relief role.

Melvin Mora has rejoined the Orioles lineup, and with him being activated, the team sent Luis Hernandez back down the minors. Well, Hernandez did a good job up at the big league level, and one could surmise that he may see the big leagues later on in September.
