The Roundup; Dodgertown, Spring Training & More
The big talk of the O's possibly moving to Vero Beach's Dodgertown has been a topic of conversation and the Baltimore Sun has a few pieces up on their website about it.
Dan Connolly believes that the Orioles need to move from Ft. Lauderdale to Vero Beach for a myriad of reasons, mainly to get the major and minor camps together (the camp is in Sarasota on the other side of the state); as well, Dodgertown has plenty of fields, amenities that Ft. Lauderdale does not have, and as well, get all the teams in one, centered location.
Meanwhile, Roch Kuabtko has a piece also on Dodgertown; Peter Schmuck notes that the Reds might be going to Arizona, but the Orioles are not looking at Sarasota as an option if Vero Beach can't be done.
There's more on the news of Patton's & Bynum's surgery from the Orioles.com, Washington Post, as well from the Examiner; meanwhile, Scott Moore has looked great in camp and he's obviously hoping to make the roster.
Guillermo Quiroz is the odds-on favorite to be the back-up catcher, while Mark Loretta has sparked interest from Baltimore due to the Freddie Bynum injury; Loewen was shaky on Sunday, but he's not concerned and is working out the kinks.
George Sherill obviously wants to be the closer, and is trying to make his case in camp; Buress was looking good until Friday, but he's in the mix to be the fifth starter & Chris Tillman is impressing in camp.
Spencer Fordin reports Liz has looked so far in spring training...
As well know, the saga of Brian Roberts and the Cubs continues -- basically, the talks are at a standstill.
Last week, Matt Wieters, pitchers Esteban Yan, Chris Tillman, Kam Mikolio and Ryan Keefer were re-assigned to the minor league camp in Sarasota & Orioles Hanout Tony Pente looks at the cuts made so far in camp.
As well, the Hangout's Nowick Gray gives his thoughts on the changes that gave taken place within the organization.
