Washington Post: The Result of the Winter Meetings for the Orioles
In an article written by the Washington Post's Jorge Arangure, Jr., he chronicles succinctly about the result of the Orioles' chase for free agents. The Orioles got nothing out of the meetings in terms of deals, trades or good news. We lost a prospect to the Rule 5 draft, DFA'ed Aaron Rakers, and signed some minor talents.
We lost a chance to sign Luis Gonzales, and we offered Jason Schmidt money comparable to what he would have received with the Dodgers, but he didn't bite.
In retrospect, the article points at the Orioles' failures, and their perception in the media and in the world of baseball.
As a fan, it's pretty sad to read, but it's the truth and also reality.

Other news: According to the Washington Post, the Orioles are also in pursuit of Marcus Thames or Kevin Mench, but negotiations are at a standstill.
