* Baltimore talk radio station, WBAL has an article on their website called “Can Cal Ripken Make History” which ponders will Cal Ripken, Jr. be the first player voted into the Hall of Fame unanimously. Baltimore Sun writer Peter Schmuck, and former Orioles Brooks Robinson and Jim Palmer give their point of view.

* Felipe Alou will be working in the San Francisco Giants front office. He’ll be a special assistant to general manager Brian Sabean.
* Washington Post writer Tom Boswell weighs in on the Mark McGwire saga. He cannot vote to induct players into the Hall of Fame, since the Washington Post does not allow it’s writers to vote on awards, but he would abstain from voting considering all the issues involved.
