Quick Hits...

* According to the AP, the Yankees and Arizona have agreed Thursday on a trade that would send Randy Johnson back to Arizona. As it is right now, the Yankees would get relief pitcher Luis Vizcaino, minor league pitchers Ross Ohlendorf and Steven Jackson & shortstop Alberto Gonzalez. Johnson is interested in a contract extension for at least another year.

Also the Yankees have reached a deal with Doug Mientkiewicz for 1 year, 1.5 million. He’ll mostly likely platoon at first base.

* Check out The Scoop by John Heyman on CNNsi.com. He picks in his mind the 12 teams that will improve in ’07. The Orioles are tied for ninth with the Astros and Cardinals, and Heyman succinctly says:

9 (tie). Orioles. They bulked up the bullpen, a generally undervalued area (although Danys Baez didn't exactly come for cheap).Improvement: 4 wins.

I agree with him for the most part, though I think the Orioles will do better than nine wins & I say probably at least 7-10 wins

As a Red Sox fan, I'm excited about the Yankees putting all their stock into getting Clemens who most likely will go somewhere else. The way they're trading away starters they look like the Red Sox last offseason.

Hey Mike,

I have no idea about Clemens and the pundits assume because of the friendship with Pettitte, he'll be a Yankee for sure.

He's the biggest mercenary I have seen and could indeed very well end up back with Houston if they offer him enough money and what wants.
