Quick Hits...

  • The Baltimore Sun has an update about the cancelled FanFest and other news about the team, primarily minor league signings.

  • The Toronto Blue Jays will replace the New York Mets as Baltimore's opponent in this year's Hall of Fame game on May 21. The Mets were the original team to face the O’s, but the change was done after ESPN moved the Mets' game against the Yankees the previous day to an 8:05 p.m. start for it’s national Sunday Night coverage.

  • Former Oriole David Newhan is a Met. He’s signed for one year.

  • Roger Cedeno agreed to a one year deal with the Orioles. According to ESPN, if added to the 40-man roster, the 32-year-old outfielder would get a one-year contract that would pay him $500,000 in the major leagues and $100,000 in the minors. He could earn an additional $400,000 in performance bonuses and would get the entire amount if he plays in 120 games and has 550 plate appearances.

A fellow Orioles blog, Oriole Central understates the importance of signing our young stars to long term deals now, specifically mentioning Erik Bedard and Brian Roberts. Hey, Oriole Central linked back to one of my posts, so I’ll do the same in return often as well.

It’s going to be great day out there here in Maryland, so I am taking advantage of it. I’ll have another post up later on.

For those in the South who got hit hard by the storms yesterday, hope everyone is all right, safe and nothing major happened.
