Bam Bam Bigelow, RIP

Well, back in the day, I used to watch pro wrestling all the time and although I do partake in watching it from time to time, it's all fun and good.

Once again, another wrestler has died young and perhaps well before his time. Tattooed wrestler, Bam Bam Bigelow, passed away in Florida and he was just 45 years old. Link from WWE.com

Why does this keep happening? It is the beating they take, the grueling schedule, perhaps drugs, or just being out of shape? It may or may not be the case, but too many men who were in the game such as Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, Eddie Guerrero, Louie Spicolli, Yokozuna, Crash Holly, Davey Boy Smith, Road Warrior Hawk, Miss Elizabeth and Owen Hart (who died in a stunt) have to die a premature death?

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, as these men are adults, but it is frankly disturbing. Put it this way, if NFL or MLB players died at the rate wrestlers do in a premature fashion, the world would be up in arms.

Wrestling may be scripted, but the pain that these men and women endure are all too real and perhaps it catches up with him in middle age.

Rest in peace, Mr. Bigelow.

There is no evidence that Elizabeth took her own life.

I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Bigelow some years ago. I was at the same watering hole as several of the WCW wrestlers and he was an absolutely gracious man. Some of the wrestlers were just down right nasty, seeing my girlfriends and I must have made them think we were there for them. Anyway, Mr. Bigelow, dispite his hard core appearance, was without a dount a true gentleman. RIP Bam Bam, and thanks for the memories.

Anon, thanks for the tribute. I have never met him, but I have had a few people email me about his experiences with him, and they have all been good.

It's too bad the good ones have to go so young.
