Late Orioles News...

Ok, I am playing catch-up, but I am finally able to report on the Orioles for a change this weekend.

Well, owner Peter Angelos stopped by and visited the Orioles camp in Fort Lauderdale. He visited with reporters and answered questions about the team, economics of the game and whether the team will be sold or not. Also he whines about the Washington Nationals cutting into his profits and he broke up the trade involving Brian Roberts and the Atlanta Braves.

There’s more on the news with Peter Angelos visit from the Baltimore Examiner.

As well, he’s tired about criticism of the team, but to be quite honest, he’s captain of the ship, thus, Mr. Angelos is in charge.

Mr. Angelos, to be honest, in order for the criticism to go away, the team needs to win.

Erik Bedard is named as the Opening Day starter for the 2007 season as the O’s take the Minnesota Twins and Johan Santana. There’s more on the news from the Washington Post’s Jorge Arangure.

There’s a Q&A with hitting coach Terry Crowley & Adam Loewen.

Hayden Penn was late for his start on Saturday, and club officials were not impressed.

Kevin Millar is once again in an old quandary. He’s once again in a situation where his number of bats might be limited due to a logjam.

The Orioles had split squad games on Saturday as they beat the Mets 9-0 in one game, while beating the Marlins 7-3 in another. Peter Schmuck notes that Orioles’ offense has picked up after their win over the Mets on Saturday.

Reliever John Parrish is hoping to make the O’s roster this year after missing a good part of two seasons with an arm injury.
