Quick Hits: Tony LaRussa, A-Rod, & MLB Stuffage

Yikes! St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa was arrested Thursday on suspicion of drunken driving after police said they found him asleep inside his running sport utility vehicle at a stop light and smelling of alcohol.

He was asleep at the wheel at a green light.

La Russa, 62, gave two breath samples and was determined to have a blood alcohol content of 0.093 percent, Jupiter police said in a statement. Florida's legal driving limit is 0.08 percent.

Not Good, not good at all…

Wither A-Rod? Once again, the world is sucked into the A-Rod drama, being will he or will he not leave the Yankees after the season.

Well, according to ESPN the Yanks don't intend to offer Alex Rodriguez a contract extension, leaving him the option of opting out of his deal after the season and becoming a free agent. He can opt out and leave after 2007.

"He's under contract; he can opt out of it if he wants," Cashman said in a telephone interview with The New York Times on Wednesday. "That's really his decision. It has nothing to do with us. There's nothing we can do about it. It's something he negotiated. If it becomes a distraction, it's because it's part of his deal. He controls that and no one else."

Cashman quipped: "He has a decision to make. It's in his contract. It's a right he's earned."

It will be interesting to see what happens with Alex Rodriguez and the New York Media. He’s told reporters and everyone that he wants to stay in New York.

It all remains to be seen…
